If you are unable to come to our monthly solidarity space but would like to discuss the support that NPMP can offer, please send an email to npolicemonitor@gmail.com. One of our volunteers will pick your email up and reply. Please do be aware that as we are a team of volunteers our capacity and ability to respond can be limited and impacted at different times, but we will always do our best to get back to you as promptly as possible.
Our approach to casework is based on individual circumstances and needs, but here are some examples of the types of support we might be able to offer:
- Reading over draft complaints to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and offering feedback
- Supporting you to draft complaints to the IOPC
- Holding a one-to-one meeting to discuss your situation and validate your experiences of police harm
- Signposting to other supporting organisations and, if possible and necessary, legal teams
- Connecting you with campaign groups that we have relationships with and are relevant to your situation
- Connecting you with people and/or families who share experiences so that they can offer insight into state processes
- Supporting you to document your experience and share this publicly through our website and/or social media
- Talking through ideas and plans for demonstrations and solidarity events such as vigils or political education sessions and, if possible, offering our involvement
- Talking through how we can support you in navigating state processes such as court hearings and inquests
