Write For Us

Have you ever been arrested?
Do you know someone who has been referred under Prevent?
Do you have a story to tell about your experience with police contact?
Do you have research that critically engages with the police and policing?

Then we’d like to hear from you.

We want to provide an online platform in which our community and researchers from across the UK can offer their experiences and thoughts on policing – especially if they are from Greater Manchester.

To pitch or submit an article, please email npolicemonitor@gmail.com

If you are thinking of writing for NPMP, please read our style guide below.

Brevity – We prefer pieces that are short and snappy (between 500 and 800 words long). However, we will publish longer articles, but please try and keep to this limit.

Accessibility – Your audience are intelligent laypeople. Avoid using jargon and explain any complex terms you have to use.

Formatting – Use paragraphs to break up text and use hyperlinks to refer to online sources. Please provide some ‘tags’ (words which identify themes of the article) to help us to create an index you can later search.

Authorship – We want to hear from researchers, journalists but perhaps most importantly, from our community and those impacted by policing. Please provide your name, where you are from and a small bio. However, in certain circumstances, we respect that some authors may want to remain anonymous and we will accommodate that.

We endeavour to acknowledge all submissions but please be patient with us as we are a small team of volunteers.
